From developing computer algorithms for digital Doppler radar for early warning systems, to developing user-friendly data products to help farmers be more productive, the experts at John D. Odegard School of Aerospace Sciences are constantly working on new projects to improve our world. The John D. Odegard School of Aerospace Sciences scientists work to understand critical factors such as the affect of daily weather and long-term climate on the agriculture of the Northern Plains by combining remote sensing and atmospheric research capabilities. Our imposing array of specialized facilities and technology includes a customized Cessna Citation II weather research jet, digital Doppler radar, a high altitude chamber, campus uplink and downlink to access orbiting satellites, and the Regional Weather Information Center. All are vital tools in the varied research going on at the John D. Odegard School of Aerospace Sciences every day. Our Aerospace Network (ASN) has successfully developed a variety of computer-based instruction, from an intelligent tutoring environment for flight training to a distance learning program. State-of-the art video production studios and a computer-interactive classroom with satellite uplink allow transmission of classes, conferences, and training materials to schools and industry sites across the U.S. We also collaborate with the government and private sector in tracking specific challenges they bring to us. |
