To help you stay on track in preparing for the semester you must complete the following steps on your own before arriving at UND. More information is available at the links.

- create an AIMS account and enter your contact information
- deposit money for flight training into your Aviation Flight Account

Start Checklist - First Trip to the Airport with your Certified Flight Instructor
Before you actively begin flight training you must bring the following items to the airport to complete your flight lab enrollment and TSA approval to begin flight training. This is usually the first time you will meet your assigned Certified Flight Instructor. For most students this will also be the first trip to the airport aside from tours.
- FAA Medical Certificate
- Passport or Birth Certificate (original with the raised seal)
- valid Driver's License or Government-Issued Photo ID
- IACRA FTN, username, and password
- completed Ramp Badge application
- iPad with the UND edition ForeFlight subscription*
- electronic logbook
* You can obtain your UND edition ForeFlight subscription by emailing pubs@aero.und.edu or in-person at Aviator's Corner when you meet your Certified Flight Instructor for the first time
Arriving at UND with your FAA Private Pilot Certificate
If you already have your FAA Private Pilot Certificate (PPL) you are required to submit a copy of your PPL, either the permanent certificate or the unexpired temporary certificate, and your FAA Medical Certificate for verification. If you are working towards your PPL and plan to obtain it before starting flight training at UND you can follow the steps below once you obtain your temporary certificate. Find more information on the difference between AVIT 220 and AVIT 102 or obtaining your PPL at UND vs. outside of UND. Upon submitting the documents the Aviation Department will review your certificates. Once your documents have been reviewed and verified you will be authorized to register for AVIT 220: Enhanced Basic Attitude Instrument Flying, instead of AVIT 102: Introduction to Aviation.
If you already have your PPL, you will be required to submit a scan of your unexpired temporary certificate or your permanent PPL and FAA Medical Certificate for verification. Follow this procedure.
If you do not have your certificate but are actively working on your PPL outside of UND and intend on obtaining it before starting flight training at UND, you can submit your PPL (unexpired temporary or permanent) and FAA Medical Certificate when you complete your Private Pilot check-ride.
